150 years of Strauss! The first of three concerts of our Strauss-birthday-tour proved to be a great success. Location Nr. 1: Théatre Equilibre, built 2011 by a local architect called Jean-Pierre Dürig who had won the contest launched by Fribourg and its neighbouring communes in order to find someone to design a new cultural centre. The building is impressive... it looks crazy from outside but turns out to be practical and simple at the same time. Once you enter you easily find your way, the offices are flooded with sunlight, the view is breathtaking, the stage equiped with state-of-the art technique.We like it immediately!
On the programme tonight: Tod und Verklärung as Ouverture, followed by Burleske for piano & orchestra with a brilliant Lilya Zilberstein. Second part: 'Also Sprach Zarathustra'. Well done everybody! The audience is wildly enthousiastic.
Pity that we cannot really celebrate though: the busses are waiting, we have to head on, still 2h to go till Zürich. See you there!
