This touring business is pretty exciting to be honest, musicians left and right preparing for their pieces and solos, and excitedly talking about the concerts to come. It's quite an impressive feat, moving and playing day after day.
Tonight in Göppingen we've played Mendelsohn, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazada. Alena Baeva joined us for the violin concerto and as always we're very happy to have her join us. Her interpretation of the piece is wonderfully moving.
At the concert in Göppingen, we're saying goodbye to one of the musicians. Dirk De Caluwé is moving on to bigger and better things in retirement. His final concert with the orchestra in Göpingen was a spectacular ending to an already impressive journey he took with the orchestra. He will be sorely missed, and we hope we hear from him soon. We can't wait to hear what mischief he's up to!
