Being on the road with a philharmonic orchestra is
never dull. It's never dull to see the orchestra playing on stage, as it
is never dull to hang out with colleagues along the road between two
concert halls. Certainly not in Austria, where
you get invited friendly, to have a nice trip on their well maintained
roads. We had a lot of fun, driving from Vienna to Villach, with signs
said things like Ausfahrt and Gute Fahrt.
During the trip from Villach to Salzburg, the green
forest smiled to us from both sides of the highway, untill we drove
into a dark tunnel, going down for minutes and minutes, until a spark of
light came shining into the tunnel, heck, there
was so much snow on this other side of the mountain, we had to grab our
sunglasses just to protect our eyes from the white light.
But it was a
nice sight, all of a sudden, after driving in a green landscape, then a
dark tunnel to arrive in a postcard scene.
Yet, the snow disappeared more and more, the longer we drove towards
Salzburg, to find no more snow when we arrived. Must be because of all
that salt under the burg...
All in all, between Schnitzel und Pilzener, the trip by car, was a pleasant one!
