Ready to leave for Venice once more!

Back on the road: The Brussels Philharmonic is heading again to Venice!

In the marvellous Scuola Grande di San Rocco our orchestra is ready to perform for the Festival “Théodore Dubois and the Official Art”. Planes are booked and backpacks are closed, but how to be ready for such a concert? This morning I met the orchestra for the first time, during the final rehearsal before heading to Italy. Conductor Hervé Niquet was standing in front of hundreds of eyes, focused and silent musicians. Each and every one ready to do his own in order to perform as one single person. Every hand still and every arm tense, like painters. Discussing tones, vibrato e crescendo they went on adjusting every detail, filling every blank space. More than one hundred hands playing at the same time to perform a great unique subject. Horns and violins, trumpets and trombones, cellos and flutes, everyone with a different color tending to a perfect composition of strokes. And in few minutes the artwork was there! Like a painting in Venice, staring at you from the roof… That’s how you get ready to performing in Venice: playing a philharmonic fresco.
