ENG - The exciting third round has been kicked off! Four out of twelve candidates have played at the International Clarinet Competition in Ghent. Two of them, Martins Circenis from Riga and Sergey Eletskiy from Moscow, are already enjoying the sun in the garden of the Conservatory, and tell volunteer Sonja that they are about to take a train to Bruges for some sightseeing. Tonight at 22h they willbe back at the Miry Hall Ghent to hear the results and the announcement of the six finalists.
While the other eight semi-finalists focus on the competition, the international jury is having their lunchbreak. Upon arival on tuesday, or so we have been told, it was still calm at the table, but today the sound of chatter and laughter is revealing the good atmosphere within the group of clarinet masters. The gentlemen of the jury are definitely enjoying the high level in, and the hospitality of, clarinet capital Ghent.
NL - Vier van de twaalf kandidaten hebben de spits afgebeten van de derde ronde van de Internationale Klarinetwedstrijd in Gent. Twee van hen, Martins Circenis uit Riga en Sergey Eletskiy uit Moskou, genieten alvast van het zonnetje op de binnenplaats van het Conservatorium en vertellen aan vrijwilliger Sonja dat ze zo meteen op de trein naar Brugge stappen om even aan sightseeing te doen. Vanavond om 22u zullen ze terug aanwezig zijn om te horen of ze doorgaan naar de grote finale dit weekend.
Terwijl de overige acht halve-finalisten zich concentreren op de wedstrijd, houdt de internationale jury een lunchpauze. Was het op dinsdag, zo hebben wij ons laten vertellen, nog een beetje rustig aan tafel, nu weerklinkt van alle kanten gelach en gepraat. Ook de heren van de jury genieten van het hoge niveau in, en de gastvrijheid van, Gent.
